In Course 665 "Digital Media for Education" at Concordia University, I was tasked with designing a learning program based on any part of Chipotle's 2021 Code of Ethics, while adhering to their visual design and branding practices.
The brief: You must design and develop a learning program using existing reports and provided written material. The purpose of this assignment is to transform the existing texts into an interactive learning program using Articulate (Storyline, Rise, or a combination of both).

As mentioned in the brief, I was not provided any design guidelines for this project, only the Code of Ethics Document. This document was very limited in terms of visual design, so I began looking at Chipotle's website and other reports to get a feel for their visual style and voice. I decided to build a sort of "Branding Kit" of my own, as a way to collect colors, fonts and other assets that I found, in one document and to get inspired!
I was quickly surprised by how playful and creative Chipotle's branding was, compared to their Code of Ethics document. I knew then, that I wanted to use Articulate 360 to build out my program, so I could add movement and interactivity to these doodle-y playful images, colors and fonts. I also noticed a lot of animated buttons on the Chipotle website, so I knew I wanted custom navigation buttons for the entire program.
I then began chunking the information into more manageable segments for a digital learning program by creating the structure or Information Architecture. I then moved onto the storyboard, and following Mayer's Coherence Principle, which emphasizes excluding extraneous material to reduce cognitive load, I identified information in the given brief that felt "unnecessary" for core learning but was still required to be included. To address this, I designed "pop-up" tabs where learners can click if they wish to access this non-vital, yet required information, ensuring the main content remained focused and streamlined while still meeting all requirements.
